SAUCE
110.00 g brown sugar
30.00 ml cocoa powder
30.00 ml butter
BATTER
140.00 g flour — cake
5.00 ml Baking powder
1.00 ml salt
30.00 ml cocoa powder
60.00 ml pecan nuts — chopped
1.00 eggs — large
110.00 g brown sugar
80.00 ml butter — melted
150.00 ml milk
5.00 ml vanilla — essence
410.00 g pear halves — tinned, drained

Method:

Preheat oven to 180 ºC. Combine the sauce ingredients in a saucepan and bring to the boil. Simmer for 5 minutes. Pour into a greased ovenproof dish.
Sift the flour, baking powder, salt and cocoa together. Add nuts. Beat egg and sugar together until light. Add butter, milk and vanilla essence. Fold into flour mixture and pour on to sauce.
Arrange pears, hollow side down, on the chocolate mixture. Bake in the oven for 35 minutes. Serve with whipped cream or custard. Serves 8.
