Chocolate and almond tart

    dark chocolate
  • 180
    g
    butter
  • 40
    ml
    water
  • 4
    extra-large eggs, separated
  • 170
    g
    castor sugar
  • 170
    g
    ground almonds
  • 30
    ml
    brandy
 

Method

 
Preheat the oven to 160 ºC (300 ºF). Melt the chocolate, butter and water in the microwave oven on 100 percent power for about 5 minutes. Beat the egg yolks and sugar together until pale yellow. Add the chocolate mixture and blend. Add the almonds and brandy, mixing well. Beat the egg whites until stiff and carefully fold in. Spoon into a greased 24 cm pie dish. Bake for about 80 minutes or until done. Serves 6.
