Chocolate Horlicks brownies

Ingredients (10)

200 g dark chocolate
125 butter
180 g brown sugar — or castor sugar
120 g flour — self-raising
150 g pecan nuts — or walnuts, chopped
10 ml vanilla — essence
60 g horlicks
60 g cocoa powder
3 eggs
dark chocolate — to decorate

Method:

Preheat the oven to 160°C.

Melt the chocolate and butter over simmering water or in the microwave oven on Medium (50% power) for 2 to 3 minutes. Stir in the sugar, vanilla essence and eggs. Mix well

In a separate bowl, sift the Horlicks, flour and cocoa powder, then add the nuts.

Add the dry ingredients to the chocolate mixture and stir well. Pour the mixture into a lined 28cm x 18cm pan.

Bake for 25-30 minutes. Leave in the pan to cool. Melt the extra dark chocolate and drizzle over the cooled brownies to decorate.
Alternatively you can dust the brownies with icing sugar

As a dessert option, serve warm with ice cream.
