Chicken with sweet chilli sauce

    chicken portions
  • lemon juice
  • salt and milled pepper to taste
  • SAUCE
  • 2
    hot chillies, chopped (or more to taste)
  • 12
    cloves garlic, chopped
  • 65
    ml
    brown sugar
  • 45
    ml
    white sugar
  • 750
    ml
    water
  • 45
    ml
    white vinegar
  • salt to taste
  • chopped fresh coriander (optional)
 

Method

 
Wipe chicken with a damp cloth. Squeeze a little lemon juice over and season with salt and pepper. Grill, bake or braai until done to taste. SAUCE: Place all ingredients, except coriander, in a saucepan and bring to a rapid boil. Continue boiling for 10 minutes. Reduce heat slightly and continue to boil until sauce reduces to a third and thickens slightly, 30 to 40 minutes. Spoon sauce over hot chicken and serve remaining sauce on the side.
