Cherry cake

  • 300
    g
    flour
  • 2
    ml
    salt
  • 10
    ml
    baking powder
  • 180
    g
    butter, chilled
  • 120
    g
    glace cherries, halved
  • 1
    egg
  • 5
    ml
    vanilla essence
  • 1/2
    tin condensed milk
  • 100
    ml
    water
 

Method

1 hour 10 mins
 
Mix together the flour, salt and baking powder.

Rub in the butter until it looks like breadcrumbs.

Stir in the cherries, making sure they are separated and coated with the mixture.

Mix together the condensed milk, the water, the vanilla and the beaten egg.

Stir this mixture into the flour mixture.

Pour the batter into a greased cake tin, and bake at 180 degrees C for about an hour.

Serve sprinkled thickly with icing sugar.
