Ingredients (13)

200.00 g pasta — penne or macaroni
500.00 ml cheddar cheese — grated
15.00 ml fresh chillies — 573
1.00 onion — finely chopped
3.00 garlic — cloves, crushed
450.00 g spinach
nutmeg — ground, pinch
225.00 g ham — diced
4.00 eggs — beaten
250.00 ml milk
250.00 ml cream
salt and freshly ground black pepper — to taste
30.00 ml breadcrumbs — fresh

Method:

Preheat the oven to 180 ºC (350 ºF). Grease an ovenproof dish. Cook the pasta in rapidly boiling salted water until just tender. Drain and spoon half the pasta into the bowl. Sprinkle with half the cheese. Heat the oil in a pan and sauté the onion and garlic until soft. Add the spinach and heat until the spinach is soft, about 2 minutes. Season with nutmeg and add the diced ham. Spoon onto the cheese layer in the dish, add the remaining pasta and sprinkle with the remaining cheese. Whisk the eggs, milk and cream together, season to taste with salt and pepper and pour over the mixture in the bowl. Sprinkle with breadcrumbs and bake for about 30-40 minutes or until the egg mixture has set.
