Celery savoury tart

    Cheddar cheese, grated

    mashed potatoes

    tomatoes, sliced
 

Method

 
Preheat oven to 180 ºC (350 ºF). Clean and chop the celery, then boil in salted water until just soft. Drain, reserving 150 ml of the stock. Place the celery pieces in a greased 20 x 12 cm ovenproof dish. Make a white sauce using the margarine, cake flour, milk and reserved stock. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Add half the cheese and the tomato paste. Add the egg and mix well. Pour over the celery pieces. Spoon the mashed potatoes on top of the white sauce and sprinkle with the remaining cheese. Arrange the tomato slices on top and bake in the oven until golden brown. Serves 4.
