  • pinch salt
 

Method

 
1. CINNAMON FILLING: Cream the margarine and sugar and beat in the cinnamon. 2. STREUSEL TOPPING: Sift the dry ingredients into a bowl and rub in the margarine. 3. Roll out the risen dough into a 50 cm x 35 cm rectangle. Spread the cinnamon filling over the length of the dough covering one half. Sprinkle raisins over the filling and fold the plain side over to sandwich the filling. 4. Cut rectangle into 16 slices. Twist strands gently and tie each into a loose knot. Place on greased baking sheet and cover with plastic wrap. Leave in a warm place to rise until doubled in size. 5. Beat the egg with the salt and carefully brush the buns. Sprinkle over the streusel topping and bake in preheated 180 ºC oven for 25 minutes. Makes 16.
