Preheat oven to 180 degrees celcius.
Line 13 x 13 cm baking pan with foil and set aside.Melt chocolate, butter and
syrup together and mix until smooth.Beat eggs and sugar together
until light and fluffy.
Sift dry ingredients together and add with melted chocolate mixture to creamed egg mixture.Add essence and nuts.Pour mixture into greased tin, sprinkle with whole nuts on top and bake for 45 minutes. Use the foil to lift out of pan.
Melt chocolate and spoon over cake. Leave to cool then cut into squares.
