Brown bread with caraway seeds

Ingredients

  • 460
    ml
    wholewheat flour
  • 240
    g
    brown bread flour
  • 5
    ml
    caraway seeds, toasted
  • 5
    ml
    salt
  • 10
    ml
    brown sugar
  • 7
    ml
    bicarbonate of soda
  • 500
    ml
    plain yoghurt
  • 180
    ml
    sultanas
  • 1
    handful sunflower or pumpkin seeds for sprinkling on top
 

Method

Preheat the oven to 180°C and grease a small loaf tin.
Mix all the ingredients except the sunflower or pumpkin seeds and turn the batter into the prepared loaf tin.
Scatter the sunflower or pumpkin seeds on top and bake for 1 hour or until a testing skewer inserted in the middle comes out clean.
Turn out onto a cooling rack and leave to cool. Serve with butter and mature Cheddar cheese.
