Broas de mel (treacle biscuits)

Ingredients

    g
    cake flour
  • 10
    ml
    ground cinnamon
  • 5
    ml
    ground nutmeg
  • 15
    ml
    bicarbonate of soda
  • 250
    g
    sugar
  • 10
    ml
    grated orange rind
  • 10
    ml
    grated lemon rind
  • 250
    g
    butter, softened
  • 250
    ml
    treacle
  • 3
    large eggs
 

Method

10 minutes
 
1. Sift dry ingredients together. Add orange and lemon rind, butter, treacle and eggs. Knead the dough.
2. Add a little extra flour, if necessary, to produce a stiff dough.
3. Break off pieces of the dough and roll into balls. Place on greased baking trays about 10 cm apart.
4. Bake in a preheated oven at 190 ºC for about 10 minutes. Remove from oven and cool on a rack.
