Bollywood lamb chops with cucumber salad

A fabulously spicy way to do your lamb chops!

  • 8
    lamb chops
  • 1
    onion - finely chopped
  • 2
    garlic cloves - crushed
  • 2
    ground cumin
  • 2
    ground coriander
  • 2
    smoked paprika
  • 1/2
    each nutmeg and ground cloves
  • 2
  • 1 -2
    chilli powder
  • olive oil
  • for the cucumber salad:
  • 1
    large cucumber - peeled, seeds removed
  • 1
    large red onion - peeled
  • 5
    white vinegar
  • 1
  • 1/2
  • black pepper to taste
Servings: Change Serving


Fry the onion and garlic in a little olive oil until soft and translucent and then add the spices. Allow to fry for a minute then transfer to a food processor.

Blend with just enough olive oil to make a thick paste. Rub the paste onto the lamb chops and allow to rest for 2–3 minutes while you get the griddle pan heated and you make the cucumber salad.

Slice the cucumber and onion thinly and add to a medium bowl.

Dissolve the sugar in the vinegar and add the salt and pepper. Pour over the cucumber and onion and allow to marinate for 10–15 minutes before serving.

In a hot griddle pan, cook your lamb chops for 3–4 minutes per side and allow to rest for 5 minutes before serving with the cucumber salad.
