Boerewors and vegetable dish

    boerewors - cut into pieces
  • 1
    onion - sliced in rings
  • 4
    potatoes- diced
  • 100
    g
    mushrooms (optional)
  • head of cabbage - shredded
  • 375
    ml
    frozen mixed vegetables
  • 125
    ml
    chutney
  • 25
    ml
    water
  • salt
  • pepper
  • seasoning (such as Aromat)

Fry boerewors in a shallow pan until browned. Remove and drain on kitchen towelling. Pour off the meat fat and sauté the onion, potatoes, mushrooms and cabbage in the remaining fat until transparent and slightly browned. Add the mixed vegetables and boerewors. Mix the chutney and water and add to the vegetable mixture. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Reduce the heat and simmer until the potatoes are tender and the other vegetables defrosted but still firm. Serve with rice.
