Blueberry and apple crunch

    wholewheat flour

    oatmeal

    cold butter

    brown sugar

    mixed nuts

    ground mixed spice

    blueberries, drained
  • 350
    g
    peeled and cored green apples, thinly sliced
  • 45
    ml
    apple juice
  • 45
    ml
    honey
 

Method

45 minutes
 
1. Mix flour and oatmeal in a bowl, then lightly rub in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs. Stir in the sugar, nuts and mixed spice. 2. Put the blueberries and apples in an ovenproof dish. Mix together the apple juice and honey and pour over the fruit. Stir gently. 3. Spoon crumble mixture evenly over the fruit. 4. Bake in preheated 180 ºC oven for about 45 minutes, or until fruit is cooked and topping is golden brown and crunchy. 5. Serve hot or cold with custard or plain yoghurt.
