Blue cheese and pear hero

    small French loaf
  • olive oil or butter
  • 2
    ripe pears
  • 150
    blue cheese or gorgonzola, freshly grated
  • Parmesan or pecorino cheese
  • dry breadcrumbs


Slice loaf into 4 generous pieces. Brush each with olive oil or butter lightly. Core and slice pears thickly. Place on bread. Slice blue cheese thinly and place on top of pears. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and breadcrumbs. Grill until bubbling. Serve with lots of fresh watercress or a green salad. TOTAL KILOJOULE COUNT: 7 700 kJ (1 840 Cal). A portion: 1 925 kJ (460 Cal).
