    g
    red cabbage, finely shredded
  • 1
    red apple, skinned and grated
  • 6
    whole cloves
  • 15
    ml
    white grape vinegar
  • 15
    ml
    sugar
  • 2
    ml
    salt
  • 15
    ml
    butter
 

Method

 
Place the red cabbage and apple in a saucepan and add 125 ml water. Cover and boil for 10 minutes or until just soft. Add the cloves, grape vinegar, sugar and salt and simmer for 10 minutes. Add the butter, stir and serve. (If desired, and if you have the time, remove the cloves just before serving). Serves 4.
