Berry apple crumble

    soft brown sugar

    mixed spice
  • 150

    muesli or oats

    apples, peeled, core and cut into wedges

    castor sugar

    ml
    cinnamon
  • 75
    ml

Method

Preheat the oven 200 ºC. Grease 3 small ovenproof soufflé dishes well with butter or spray them with non-stick spray. Rub the butter into the flour until it resembles coarse breadcrumbs. Add the sugar, spices and muesli and mix well. Place the apples, sugar and cinnamon in a pan along with the water. Heat over low heat until the sugar dissolves. Bring to the boil and simmer for 5 minutes. Add the berries and simmer another 3 to 4 minutes. Spoon into the prepared dishes, sprinkle with crumble mixture and place on a baking sheet (the sauce may leak out.) Bake for about 30 minutes until golden brown. Serve hot with cream or custard. Serves 3 to 4.
