Ingredients (10)

CRUMBLE
100.00 g butter — room temperature
200.00 ml flour — cake
125.00 ml brown sugar — soft
5.00 ml mixed spice — ground
150.00 g muesli — or oats
FILLING
450.00 g apples — peeled, cored, wedges
75.00 ml castor sugar
5.00 ml cinnamon — ground
75.00 ml water
225.00 g mixed berries

Method:

Preheat the oven 200 ºC. Grease 3 small ovenproof soufflé dishes well with butter or spray them with non-stick spray. Rub the butter into the flour until it resembles coarse breadcrumbs. Add the sugar, spices and muesli and mix well. Place the apples, sugar and cinnamon in a pan along with the water. Heat over low heat until the sugar dissolves. Bring to the boil and simmer for 5 minutes. Add the berries and simmer another 3 to 4 minutes. Spoon into the prepared dishes, sprinkle with crumble mixture and place on a baking sheet (the sauce may leak out.) Bake for about 30 minutes until golden brown. Serve hot with cream or custard.
