Ingredients (13)

1.00 kg beef — chuck, cubed
15.00 ml butter
15.00 ml oil
1.00 onion — large, sliced
15.00 ml flour — plain
10.00 ml salt
black pepper — freshly ground
250.00 ml stock — meat
15.00 ml vinegar — wine
15.00 ml soy sauce
6.00 carrot — quartered
3.00 leeks — in pieces
3.00 potatoes — medium, quartered

Method:

1. Brown the meat in heated butter and cooking oil. Add onion rings and sauté until transparent. Sprinkle flour over the meat, stir and season with salt and pepper.
2. Heat the meat stock, vinegar and soya sauce together and add to the meat. Lower the heat, cover with a lid and simmer for 1 to 1 1/2 hours or until meat is almost tender. Add the remaining vegetables and simmer for an additional 20 to 30 minutes.
