Basic baking mixture with dried fruit and honey

    mixed dried fruit, finely chopped.
  • 250
    ml
    water
  • 80
    g
    sugar
  • 45
    ml
    honey
  • 45
    ml
    butter
  • 1
    quantity basic baking mixture
 

Method

 
Prepare the basic baking mixture (see recipe). Turn into a greased 27 cm pie dish. Bring the dried fruit, water and sugar to the boil in a saucepan and simmer until most of the liquid has been absorbed. Spoon over the basic baking mixture in the pie dish and spread evenly. Bake for 30-40 minutes or until a testing skewer comes out clean when inserted into the centre of the tart. (Cover the tart with a sheet of aluminium foil if the crust becomes too brown and the tart is not yet done.) Prick the tart gently with a thin testing skewer. Melt the honey and butter together and pour over the hot tart. Serve hot or cold.
