Ingredients (8)

2.00 kg apples
800.00 ml vinegar — white
2.00 garlic — cloves
525.00 g brown sugar — soft
10.00 ml ginger — ground
2.00 ml mixed spice — ground
1.00 cayenne pepper — pinch
2.00 ml salt

Method:

Peel the apples, cut in half, remove the cores and chop the flesh into cubes.
Blend the apples, vinegar and garlic in a food processor to form a thick pulp.
Transfer mixture to a saucepan and heat over a medium heat.
Add remaining ingredients and allow the mixture to simmer gently for about 45 minutes until thick.
Remove from the heat and pour into sterilised jars.
Makes two large jars.

Cook?s tip
This chutney goes very well with pork dishes such as pork chops, sliced roast pork and gammon.
