Apple and plum chutney

Ingredients

    apples, peeled, cored and sliced
  • 450

    red plums, halved and stoned
  • 450
    g
    onions, peeled and sliced
  • 1
    clove garlic, peeled and chopped
  • 1
    piece ginger, peeled and chopped
  • 5
    ml
    dried chillies
  • 125
    g
    sultanas
  • 450
    g
    sugar
 

Method

1 hour
 
Mix all ingredients, except sugar, in a pan. Cover and cook gently for 30 minutes. Add sugar and stir until dissolved. Simmer for 15 to 20 minutes until juices are thick.
Leave to cool, then pack into sterilised jars and seal. Store in a cool, dark place for up to six months.
Makes 3.2 kg.
