Apple and almond slice

    lasagne sheets
  • icing sugar for dusting

Method

40 minutes
 
1. Heat 500 ml of the milk in a saucepan. Whisk the custard powder, castor sugar and the remaining milk together, then add to the hot milk. Stir until custard thickens, then remove from the heat. 2. Chop the apples and half of the nuts finely. Stir in the sultanas, brown sugar, flour and spices. 3. Pour a layer of custard into a lined and greased 18 cm square baking pan. Cover with a layer of lasagne then top with a layer of apple mixture. Continue layering, ending with a layer of custard. 4. Sprinkle with the remaining nuts and bake in a preheated 180 ºC oven for 30 minutes. Allow to cool, then dust with icing sugar. 5. Whip cream and serve with a slice of warm or cold apple and almond slice.
