Almond triangles

    ml
    butter or margarine
  • 170
    ml
    sugar
  • 375
    ml
    ground almonds
  • 1
    extra-large egg
  • 5
    ml
    vanilla essence
  • 10
    slices white bread, crust removed
  • 90
    ml
    almond flakes
  • icing sugar for dusting
 

Method

15 minutes
 

Preheat the oven to 180 °C and line a large baking sheet with baking paper.
Cream the butter or margarine and sugar together until light and fluffy.
Add the ground almonds, egg and vanilla essence.
Mix well and spread a thin layer of the mixture on each slice of bread.
Scatter the almond flakes on top.
Cut into triangles and arrange on baking sheet.
Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
Remove from the oven, allow to cool, then dust with icing sugar.
