Ingredients (5)

250.00 ml butter
125.00 ml sugar
5.00 ml almond essence
1.00 ml salt
500.00 ml flour

Method:

Cream the butter and sugar together. Add almond essence.
Sift in the flour and salt and mix well.
Cover and place in fridge to chill.
Shape dough into 2 cm balls and place fairly wide apart on a baking tray. Press design on with a warm cookie stamp – or simply flatten slightly with the tines of a fork. Or, press dough out on a floured surface and use heart-shaped cookie cutters.
Lift carefully and place on baking tray.

Bake at 160 ºC in preheated oven for 12-15 minutes.
