Almond and carob balls

Ingredients

    dried apple
  • 100
    ml
    water
  • 150
    g
    ground almonds
  • 3
    ml
    ground cinnamon
  • 2
    large egg whites, stiffly beaten
  • ICING
  • 25
    g
    butter
  • 25
    g
    carob powder
  • 75
    ml
    skimmed milk
  • 15
    g
    ground almonds
  • 5
    ml
    vanilla essence
 

Method

10-15 minutes
 
Heat the apple and water in a small saucepan and cook until apples are soft. Blend in a food processor until smooth. Mix apple, almonds, cinnamon and egg whites together. Roll mixture into small balls and place on a greased baking sheet. Bake in preheated 170 ºC oven for 10 to 15 minutes, until golden. Set aside to cool. ICING: Heat the butter, carob powder and skimmed milk together, stirring until smooth. Remove from the heat and stir in the almonds and vanilla essence. Dip each nut ball into the icing and set aside on a baking rack to set.
