    Penne, cooked al dente in salted water
  • 10
    ml
    Butter
  • 5
    ml
    Olive oil
  • 5
    ml
    Crushed garlic
  • 1
    Onion, sliced
  • 6
    Brown mushrooms, sliced
  • 125
    g
    Smoked ham, cut into strips
  • 10
    ml
    Cake flour
  • 125
    ml
    Skim milk
  • 125
    ml
    Cream
  • =/- 50
    ml
    Parmesan
  • Fresh Rocket
 

Method

20 mins
 
Saute the onions and garlic in the heated butter and oil until golden and translucent; followed by the mushrooms, fry until soft.
Add the ham and heat through.
Remove from the heat and add the flour, stir until the mixture is coated.
Place back on the heat and add milk and cream.
Reduce heat and simmer until the lquid has thickened slightly.
Season with salt and pepper.
Add the cooked and strained pasta as well as the Parmesan.
Stir well to combine all the ingredients.
Serve immediately with a salad.
