The Weber Grill Academy is situated in Randburg down the road from M.Net, at HTA School of Culinary Art. The top deck is where the grilling takes place and overlooks a beautiful setting and has ample secure parking. The 2 men looking after the braai students are headed by Heinz Brunner (Hon Life President of the South African Chefs Association and current South African Culinary Team Manager), assisted by Chef Kabelo Segone, who is a senior lecturer at HTA.
The environment is warm and inviting, with an informative introduction into the different Weber product offerings. Visitors are taken on a journey of using different recipes to test each Weber product. HTA offers world class kitchens for the preparation of food before grilling.
The Smokey Mountain Cooker
One gets to experiments with the Smokey Mountain cooker which can handle a fair amount of Trout or about 50 duck breasts, its also perfect for lamb. Try your hand at using a Salt Rock or a Beer Chicken, to interacting with various Weber attachments that even allow you to do a stir fry on a braai! The most impressive feat was baking a carrot cake to perfection using their indirect heat method!
