Hopefully each and every one of us is making an effort to cut back on our sugar intake with the purpose of eventually cutting it out of our diets altogether. Never mind carbs, a high sugar intake can have serious repercussions like type 2 diabetes and obesity and with the SA National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey stating that the average citizen consumes 17 teaspoons of sugar and similar sweeteners in a day, we've got some serious work to do.
