Ingredients (15)

25 g butter
10 ml fresh chillies — 573
15 ml curry powder — mild
25 ml flour
2 onions — coarsely chopped
30 ml vinegar — white wine
150 ml stock — meat
5 ml salt
25 ml jam — smooth, apricot
15 ml brown sugar — soft
4 bananas — sliced
bread — hamburger buns
4 bread — rolls
lettuce
4 beef — patties

Method:

This sauce brings out the taste of the meat and it’s equally popular with kids and adults.

1. Banana sauce Heat the butter and oil in a cast-iron pot over hot coals. Stir-fry the curry powder for about 1 minute. Add the flour and stir-fry for about 2 minutes. Add the onions and fry until golden brown.

2. Add the white wine vinegar, meat stock, salt, apricot jam, brown sugar and bananas, and stir until the sugar has dissolved. Bring to the boil and simmer for about 5 minutes.

3. 3 Hamburgers Cut open the rolls and arrange the lettuce on the bottom half of each. Add the beef patties and spoon the sauce over. Top with the other halves of the rolls.
