Spicy meatball roti

Take the hassle out of menu planning with this easy family supper.

  • 500
    lean beef mince
  • pinch
    nutmeg and ground cloves
  • 10-25
    curry masala powder
  • 125
    white breadcrumbs
  • 50
  • 50
    freshly chopped coriander
  • 10
    grated fresh ginger
  • sunflower oil, for frying
  • 250
    plain or Greek yoghurt
  • rotis and salad, to serve
Servings: Change Serving


Mix together the mince, spices, breadcrumbs, milk and half of the coriander and the ginger. Season well with salt and freshly ground black pepper.

Roll into balls. Heat a layer of oil in a frying pan and fry the meatballs until browned on all sides and cooked through.

Mix the yoghurt and remaining ginger and coriander together. Warm up the rotis and serve with the meatballs, yoghurt sauce and salad.

Tip of the day

Carving meat
Always allow your roast to rest for 5 to 15 minutes before carving so that the juices can be reabsorbed and the meat presents an even surface when sliced. Use a short- or long-bladed knife, and a two-pronged carving fork with a guard. To prevent the meat from losing juice, steady it with the flat of the fork, rather than piercing.
