Beef kebabs

Pop these babies on a braai or in the oven for a finger-licking meal.

Ingredients

 
  • 15
    ml
    sunflower oil
  • 2
    large red onions, sliced
  • 100
    ml
    beef stock
  • 50
    ml
    Worcestershire sauce
  • 125
    ml
    sweet chilli sauce
  • 80
    ml
    tomato sauce
  • 500
    g
    rump steak- cubed

Method

 
Heat the oil in a saucepan and fry the onions until soft. Stir in the beef stock, Worcestershire sauce, sweet chilli sauce and tomato sauce. Simmer for five minutes. Remove from heat, season to taste and set aside to cool.

Thread the steak cubes onto skewers and place them in a greased roasting pan.

Pour the sauce over the kebabs and bake, uncovered, in a preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes or on the braai.

Serve with rice and stir-fried vegetables.

Always allow your roast to rest for 5 to 15 minutes before carving so that the juices can be reabsorbed and the meat presents an even surface when sliced. Use a short- or long-bladed knife, and a two-pronged carving fork with a guard. To prevent the meat from losing juice, steady it with the flat of the fork, rather than piercing.
