Bacon, mushroom and spinach pasta

A decandent, creamy pasta dish to fill up those hungry tummies.

Ingredients

 
  • 250
    g
    bacon, chopped
  • 1/2
    onion- finely chopped
  • 250
    g
    mushrooms- sliced
  • 2
    cloves
    garlic- crushed
  • 200
    g
    spinach- trimmed and chopped
  • 500
    ml
    milk mixed with 1tbsn maizena
  • pinch
    nutmeg
  • 1/2
    tsp
    paprika
  • Squeeze of lemon juice
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 500
    g
    cooked pasta of your choice
Servings: Change Serving
 
 

Method

 
In a large saucepan, fry the onion and bacon together until the onion is translucent and the bacon is starting to crisp up.

Add the mushrooms and garlic and fry for another 3-5 minutes until the mushrooms are almost cooked.

Add the spinach, and sautè until the spinach is wilted.

Add the milk mixture along with the spice and allow to come to a gentle simmer.

Allow to simmer until the sauce is thickened.

Season with lemon juice, salt and pepper and serve on cooked pasta.

Carving meat
Always allow your roast to rest for 5 to 15 minutes before carving so that the juices can be reabsorbed and the meat presents an even surface when sliced. Use a short- or long-bladed knife, and a two-pronged carving fork with a guard. To prevent the meat from losing juice, steady it with the flat of the fork, rather than piercing.
