Steamed chocolate pudding

    butter
  • 125
    ml
    dark brown sugar
  • 50

    dark chocolate, chopped
  • 160
    ml
    milk
  • 1
    egg
  • 15
    ml
    cocoa powder
  • 375
    ml
    self-raising flour
  • 5
    ml
    ground cinnamon
  • 1
    ml
    bicarbonate of soda
  • 100
    ml
    cream
  • 100
    g
    dark chocolate
 

Method

Let this dessert cook while you enjoy your main meal.

Grease a heatproof pudding bowl. 

1 Melt the butter and sugar in  a pot over low heat. Remove from  the heat and stir in the chocolate.  Carefully whisk in the milk and egg. 

2 Sift dry ingredients together and  add to butter mixture. Fold in gently.

3 Pour the mixture into the prepared  pudding bowl and cover  with foil. Place in a large pot and  carefully add boiling water until  it touches the base of the bowl. 

Steam for 1 hour. Remove bowl  from pot and let pudding rest for  5 minutes before turning it out. 

4 CHOCOLATE SAUCE  Heat cream until hot but not boiling,  then pour over the chocolate,  stirring until the chocolate melts.  Pour over the pudding and serve.
