My brain is a search engine and I should quit my job, nah I'd miss Caro too much, and become a consultant for people looking for a place to eat or drink something.
Everyday I get asked the same question. A place to celebrate with friends, partners, other school-parents, overseas visitors or their kid’s birthday lunch with the family?
"Not too expensive, quite chilled, and the food MUST be good".
I’d sit at home at my non-existent pool and churn out recommendations. At a charge of R20 a pop.
But wait – surely something online can already do that? Well yes, but how personalized can that be, the machine does not know you like I do? Or does it?
Soon my lovelies.
We are busy building a search engine that will blow (and read) your mind. So we need to ask you some questions about what you search for when you are looking for a place to celebrate.
If you own a restaurant or dine out a lot here is the big question?
WHAT IS YOUR RESTAURANT #goodfor?
Is it child-friendly? Do you serve the best steaks in town? Free wi-fi? Barristas that have won awards? Craft beer? Massive screens for sportsfans? Courtyard with beer on tap? On tap!
Pizza oven? Seafood to trump all seafood? Deck? Sushi? Romance? And of course... a view?
Cocktails? World class cocktails!
Fireplace? Great wine list? Hot curries. Burgers that people will catch the Gautrain for? Fine dining?
Chilled vibe with good food? Gastropub?
New? Everyone loves new.
Tell us what YOU look for. Let us know people! Tweet us @food24 or visit our Facebook page, like us, and comment! Tell us which restaurants you visit and why? What is it best known for?
Joburg, Cape Town, Durban, PE, Poffadder, Plett, Clarens, Colesburg – we want the whole country to take part.
We’re going to be running the “What is Your Restaurant Good For?” campaign for the month of August and the best #goodfor recommendations we get will be getting R250 Kalahari vouchers. Yes, we’ll be giving them away left, right and centre as you tweet us @food24 with your #goodfor shout outs.
Then my friends, then we are going to launch it. THE search engine to melt all search engines.
Yours at the office, working on it.
