2015 is here and everyone I meet for a coffee, or a smoothie, seems to be very positive about the year ahead.
I am on a #40Days ‘healthy eating and drinking’ lifestyle adjustment with 8 of my friends – and we have a WhatsApp group to support each other. So the usual pictures of beers and pizzas have been replaced with salads and motivational slogans like: ‘Don’t blame the holidays, you were fat in August’ and so forth.
It’s not the greatest, but you know the best part? Posting pictures on Instagram of my green machine smoothies and Bircher muesli breakfasts and watching the Likes roll in. It seems we are not alone in our quest for better health, and it’s hugely motivational.
Follow @jshealth, @iquitsugar, @wholefoodsimply and @cleanfoodiesa to see what we mean. Their posts are absolutely awesome!
So we urge you all – whether you are on Facebook, Instagam or Twitter, to share your healthy vibes with us.
You can find us on Instagram @food24_sa and if you tag your picture with #food24_sa it will end up on the actual Food24 website. Check out the nifty widget on the right hand side of all our pages. Cool right? So pile ‘em in and stack ’em high! And it doesn’t only have to be healthy – although that is kind of the point right now. If you are proud of your dinner creation or have just had the best meal ever at that new burger bar, then post, post post!
On Twitter we are @food24 and you can join us on Facebook here.
So if you are trying to eat more healthily in 2015 then share your ideas with all of us. I promise – it helps.
Everyone has a different idea of what healthy eating is and how they are going to reach their goals. The two most obvious camps are low calorie versus low carb. I for one am giving the Banting route a go – but at least half of our #40Days group would have to be tied down and force fed coconut water. And a bullet-proof coffee is right up there with the worst invention ever. Others however, swear by it and I had my first one this morning at the Hard Pressed Café in Cape Town. It tasted awesome!
We’re not here to judge which eating plan you have chosen – that is entirely up to you, and you should definitely chat to your doctor before embarking on any big lifestyle change - all we want is to know what you are eating and we want to see the pictures!
So whip out that smartphone and join us as we all aim to eat clean!
Yours in coconut oil and Greek yoghurt,
