Food24’s favourite things
It’s raining outside. Pouring. Caro is in Mauritius and the rest of us are sitting at our desks. Crying. Then when I look at our site, Food24, I cheer up.
It’s just so full of awesome amazing foodie stuff. Things that make you go “oooooooooh” and “wooooow”
The trouble is that we can only feature a limited number of things per day and then these inspiring recipes and great columns disappear off into the ether and only a search engine, cookie, cache or breadcrumb (for real) can find them (I still don’t have a clue).
So here, good foodie folk, are a few of our favourite things for you to drool at while it rains outside.
My best on Food24 at the moment has to be that chocolate and peanut butter mousse cake that Katelyn Williams aka TheKateTin totally blindsided us with. Naughty. And while I was down she goes and does this… 3 winter puddings AND sticky beef short ribs. Where is she? I want to move in with her.
I’m also very excited about our newest addition to the family, Kate Liquorish, an absolute treasure based in Joburg who is doing some great much-needed articles for us about the food scene there. Like this 5 child-friendly spots in Joburg. So if you’ve spotted something new and cool in Gauteng then you need to tweet her!
Caro’s smitten with our new blogger heinstirred – since we saw these pictures of his lunch at Overture, Bertus Basson’s beautiful winelands restaurant, our lives have not been the same. And what about those stuffed zucchini flowers and beer ice cream. What could be next?
Cathy Martson loves a juicy story and her favourite things are the stinging restaurant reviews and this hilarious (and controversial) column by our other resident joburg foodie Bryan van Niekerk.
Stirring the pot always tickles her and this column about organic farming which raises some pertinent issues is no exception.
Xandri and Katy have a (not small) list of their best stuff which includes croissant bread and butter pudding, Waterblommetjie bredie, salted caramel, red onion soup and homemade samoosas.
Shaina thinks that every recipe that Bits of Carey blogs is one you’d like to try at home. The ultimate compliment to a food blogger.
But seriously, all our bloggers are just making up the most delightful things at the moment. I cannot stay away from them.
Tessa still emails every now and again to comment on a cool column like this one about what your choice of fast food says about you, and she’s in love with desserts with spice from Damian Ettish.
There are so many things to love – it would be so great if you could tell us what has been your favourite thing. Email us on editor@food24.com, tweet us or let us know on Facebook what you’ve loved about us recently? Tell us what or who you’ve enjoyed and we’ll feature them more!
Bon appetit!
