When sitting down to put this list together, I had a silent chuckle remembering the hilarious video - where people who followed a gluten-free diet were asked what gluten was (Face palm!).

If you're unfamiliar with it, gluten is a protein found in grains like wheat and barley, and is the essential element that gives structure to breads and pastas. Gluten is also found in beer, processed meats and store-bought sauces. A large number of people are intolerant to the protein and are unable to digest it.

We've rounded up a list of our top gluten-free recipes to try. Have a look...

These are full of protein and are perfect for breakfast or a quick snack.

3. Goats cheese and asparagus tarts
These tarts make the perfect starter for a light and summery al fresco lunch.
