The week after Heritage Day is always an interesting food week. A lot of left over food is being enjoyed and repurposed as new meals – steak sarmie anyone? And, now that Heritage Day has passed, we can now enjoy a new variety of popular recipes, as readers began scouring for fresh meal inspiration.
Starting us off is local renowned chef Reuben Riffle’s butternut, bacon and mushroom mac ‘n cheese, which looks as good as it sounds. Coming in at a close second on the list are the delicious stuffed cheese balls. Perfect as a pre-dinner snack or a meal for the kids. They are the definition of moreish, so make sure you prep enough!
Also on the list is Heinstirred‘s inventive Vegan choc mint tart. This is a real Summery treat both for vegans and non-vegans. And keeping with the chocolate theme, next up is an easy peasy microwave chocolate cake, which is incredibly handy for when you’ve forgotten a birthday or when that dessert has flopped and you need something ready in a jiffy!
