A storm is brewing down here in Cape Town, the heavy rainclouds are rolling in and we are gearing up for a weekend curled up by the fire, reading books and sipping hot chocolate.

Add to your satisfaction with this weekend menu of warmth and comfort.

Tonight, bundle up with a loved one or a good book (or both) and a delicious bowl of Nina’s Kitchen’s hearty vegetable soup.

Wake yourself up with a bowl of comforting peanut butter porridge, a recipe that is certain to make the kids happy.

For lunch snack on an assortment of gourmet toasted sarmies such as these brinjal and mozzarella mini-loaves, bruschetta with roast tomatoes or this simple butternut and gorgonzola bruschetta.

Invite your family and friends over for dinner tonight and create a Moroccan feast with this delicious Moroccan lamb shank with coriander yoghurt as the main course. For more ideas on Moroccan flavours and creations visit Mint tea & Tagine’s blog, Food24’s resident Moroccan expert.

Surrender to your sweet tooth and say goodbye to your diet -it's winter we need layers to keep warm. Whip up a batch of these satisfying chocolate pancakes.

For a late lunch or early dinner, sit down at the dining room table, with a glass of wine and a plate of honey and course-grain mustard roast chicken served with baked stuffed vegetables and delicious roast potatoes.

Bundle up and enjoy!
