If you’re keen for a rewarding career in the field of professional cookery, our jam-packed one year (fulltime) Culinary Arts programme from the prestigious International Hotel School is the course for YOU!

It’s about passion, dedication and an opportunity to learn the very best culinary principles and techniques in modern practical kitchens from our highly trained chef lecturers. Because the programme covers both the theory and practical cooking skills to prepare you (job ready) to become a chef – it’s the perfect starting point for your culinary career. Plus, you can add on a second year to include either a 6 month Patisserie programme, or the Advanced Diploma in Food Preparation and Cookery Supervision (6 months), or both to really get ahead.

What to expect

The programme, which is offered in our Sandton, Cape Town and Durban campuses consists of 50% theory and practical cookery on campus, and 50% practical work experience which takes place in leading hospitality establishments countrywide. It’s the best of both worlds and it’s what sets us apart from our competitors! To enrol, you will need to have a Grade 10 certificate (minimum), although a Senior Certificate is always a big plus.

Courses start each year in January and July and when you graduate, you’ll receive:

• South Africa National Qualifications Certificate in Professional Cookery NQF  4 (SAQA ID No: 14111)

• City & Guilds Diploma in Food Preparation and Cooking (Culinary Arts)

Of course, if you’re in Grade 11 or 12 right now and you have a passion for cooking, why not enter the Ultimate School Cook Off 2014 and stand a chance to win your share of R300 000 in prizes, including a trip to London and a bursary from the International Hotel School to study Culinary Arts?

This fantastic interschool cooking competition is the perfect way to show us if you have what it takes to be South Africa’s top school chef.

Entering is simple – just visit School Cook-Off and register. Include your email address, mobile number, your school and region and verify that you are in either grade 11 or 12.

Then once registered, submit a one dish recipe and photograph of your dish and get your friends and family to vote for you. It’s as easy as that! Terms and conditions apply! For more information, call 0861 44 33 00.
