Surely there is never a bad time to eat pizza? There is the "morning-after" pizza moment when you greedily swipe the last cold slice from the box. And then there is the first bite from a true thin-crust Italian pizza with a few choice toppings. And off course many moments in between with mates or kids or on the couch when only a pizza will do!

I love slathering some caramelised onions on a base and topping it with slices of Tallegio or Gruyere cheese and roasted butternut. I'm also a sucker for something fresh like ripe fresh tomato or rocket on my pizza.

Use ready-made pizza bases and a bottled sauce for speed or make your own dough and pizza sauce for something special.

Get inspired with these top toppings:

1. Breakfast
Weekend-brunch with a difference...

2. Roast potato and rosemary with Emmenthal
A delicious meat-free combination.

3. Bacon and goats cheese
Crisp bacon and creamy cheese - a delicious feast.

4. Low-GI chicken
An easy wholewheat base means it is healthy and tasty.

5. Greek lamb
A fabulous combo of fragrant lamb and crumbly feta.

6. Four cheese
An unusual cheesy pesto adds punch to everyone's favourite cheese-fix.

7. Figs, Gorgonzola and walnuts with rocket
A luxurious feast that is part salad, part guilty food.

8. Prosciutto, Parmesan shavings and rocket

A true classic for connoisseurs...

9. Shrimp and artichoke
A few choice deli ingredients and a prepared base and viola! Dinner.

10. Mince, mushroom and brinjal

A substantial meal, loved by kids everywhere!
