It's time to detox

After all the heavy training we did with the Springboks we all need a bit of detoxing. Here's some ideas of how to clean out your system.

Vegetables are particularly good detox foods so load up on broccoli, cauliflower, broccoli sprouts, onions, artichokes, beets and red and green vegetables. Or chuck them all into this delicious detox soup.

Vitamin C
You need to keep the fluids flowing to wash out your body. Vitamin C helps to convert toxins into water that is easily flushed away. Detox with this
lemon and ginger yellowtail with spinach stir-fry. The ginger with a variety of health benefits adds to the health benefits of this dish.

Add this magical ingredient to salads, sauces, spreads, marinades and stews. It activates liver enzymes that help filter out all the junk in your system. Try this garlic and chilli stuffed green peppers. Chillies are also packed with Vitamin C – so it's a double whammy on the detox front.

Sesame seeds
These tiny seeds are credited with protecting liver cells from the damaging effects of alcohol and other chemicals. They're packed with oil (the good kind) and adds something different to any meal. We recommend this chicken stir-fry with sesame seeds, perfect for lunch or dinner.

Fresh fruit contains Vitamin C, fibre, nutritious fluids, and all kinds of antioxidants to assist the detoxification process. So either add a fruit salad to your daily diet or a low fat berry smoothie.

And don't forget to drink loads of water.
