Getting you through the week

Meat-free Monday, Tequila Tuesday, Phuza Thursday... what's next!

love food

I read a tweet the other day which said: @Amy_Hoppy  “sushi sunday, meatless monday, tequila tuesday, wine-filled wednesday, thirsty thursday & friday-is-braaiday – saturday is the only day left".

It made me smile. Isn’t it great that we can find a superb excuse to eat, drink and be merry on every single day of the week?

So let’s get this right:

Meat-free Mondays - thanks Paul McCartney. They're always a good time to do a bit of over-indulgence purging after a fabulous weekend by cutting out meat. Check out our dedicated hub of beautiful vegetarian recipes for some inspiration.

Tequila Tuesdays via @F1Sasha will always go down well with a shot of pure Patron. Or you could cook up this cheeky Tequila bolognaise for some delicious fun.

Wine Wednesdays aka ‘hump day’ is a solid favourite of mine as it’s a mid-week celebration with my elixir of life and all the wondrous food that goes with it. Whip up a lovely chicken casserole to go with a crisp white or a juicy steak to compliment your sassy red.

Phuza Thursdays via @GarethCliff, a raving favourite here at food24 and pretty much means going for gold somewhere gorgeous. If you've done the same and need a cheesy pick-me-up before you hit Friday on the head, try these bacon and egg sarmies or this superb bacon and egg pie.

Braai Fridays are just plain fantastic with the excitement of rolling out the weber and sparking up the logs.Try these fantastic chicken recipes on the braai or perhaps some dripping tjoppies. Don’t forget the braai sides and salads to go with that. Check out this hysterical (braai) parody on Rebecca Black's 'Friday' song.

Sundays have now been christened Sushi Sundays, but it's Saturdays we're missing? We're thinking Saucy Saturdays, or perhaps Steak Saturdays? Wine ed Cathy Marston suggested via Twitter, "Platter-day and we eat seafood? Batter-day and we eat pancakes? Or Fatter-day after eating/drinking rest of wk?! ? Batter".

So what's your suggestion? Let's make this good. There's a R250 Kalahari voucher in it for the coolest one.

And then…. A good long, exhausted sleep, to wake refreshed on Monday for another marvellous round of life.

Life is good people, let’s live it.
