The long weekend has finally arrived. Food24 knows that worrying about what to cook this weekend is the last thing you want to do, so we have created an Easter weekend menu just for you!

After having that long awaited sleep-in, brunch sounds like a good idea. Pick between a tasty full-house breakfast or the sweeter panettone French toast with palm-sugar butter or, spoil yourself and have both.

For dinner why not go the traditional South African route and make this simple pickled fish with a salad and home-made bread.

Enjoy the morning newspaper or a good book with a cup of hot coffee and warm blue-berry scones, fresh out of the oven.

If you have taken the family away for the weekend, soak up the last rays of summer sun on the beach with a delicious cooler bag full of gourmet samries.

  • Calamari and coriander mayonnaise open sandwiches
  • Chunky smoked beef sandwiches
  • Thai chicken and egg mayo sandwiches and for the vegetarians some
  • Tuscany meatless sandwiches

After a long day at the beach, or in front of the television, it is time to chill with family and friends around the braai. Enjoy these sticky BBQ grilled spare ribs, paired with a big bowl of marinated potato salad with feta.

Instead of spending money on all those expensive eggs, why not make your own. Once the little ones are in bed, make these delicious chocolate easter eggs that can set overnight, and will be ready for hiding in the morning.

Happy Easter! After waking up early to hide the easter eggs why not surprise the family with a quick breakfast of sticky hot cross buns.

Gather your family and friends together for a scrumptious Easter lunch. The Giggling Gourmet provides us with a delicious slow cooked Easter lamb recipe.

Using some of the chocolate eggs that you have already prepared make this sinful chocolate mousse in easter egg nests, after all, lent is finished so spoil yourself.

After an entire weekend of stuffing yourself with chocolate, maybe a healthy smoothie is a good way to repent. Whizz up a pawpaw smoothie for a healthy breakfast option, or if you need the energy a peanut butter smoothie.

Wrap up the long weekend with a quick and easy chicken and peppadew wrap or a cold beef and salad wrap.
