3 things to do with... ham

With a packet of ham, you are never far from a fast meal.

Salty ham and melted cheese is a thing of beauty. I guess that is why the French invented the glorious Croque Monsieur - my all-time favourite hangover toastie.

Another classic combination is that of scrambled eggs and shaved ham. Divine on a rye roll and much healthier and quicker than a bacon fry-up! And for a simple but very impressive low-fat appetizer or starter, try asparagus rolled in ham.

Stuck for a quick mid-week meal? Check these 3 cool ideas out.

1. Ham and beans in tomato sauce
Serve these baked-beans with a twist on tacos and guacamole for a fast meal.

2. Warm potato salad with poached eggs and ham

A delicious combination of runny egg and potato, make this a very comforting substantial salad.

3. Creamy pasta with peas and ham
For a lower fat alternative, substitute the cream in this recipe for two whisked eggs added right at the end.
