Smoky marinated octopus

Delicious baby octopus marinated in lemon and smoky paprika.

    baby octopus tentacles

    olive oil

    lemon juice
  • 1
    thinly sliced peel of 1 lemon
  • 1
    finely chopped onion
  • 2
    sliced garlic
  • 5
    smoked Spanish paprika
  • 1
    bay leaf
  • 125
    cider vinegar
  • 125
    white wine vinegar
  • 5
    milled pepper
  • 24
    Chunks of bread (to serve)

Wash baby octopus tentacles (smaller regular tentacles) really well.
Heat olive oil, lemon juice and the thinly sliced peel of lemon in a pot.
Add tentacles, and poach for 4 minutes.
Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside.
Add chopped onion and sliced garlic and cook in oil and lemon mixture until soft, but not brown.
Add smoked Spanish paprika, 1 bay leaf, cider vinegar, white wine vinegar, and milled pepper, and bring to the boil.
Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
Place in the fridge and marinate for 24 hours.
Bring to room temperature before serving with chunks of bread.
