Ingredients (14)

375.00 ml milk
225.00 g maize meal
125.00 g butter
3.00 eggs — beaten
75.00 g flour — cake
50.00 ml sugar — optional
20.00 ml Baking powder
10.00 ml mixed dried herbs — fresh parsley and chives, chopped
1.00 green pepper — finely chopped
4.00 carrots — small, grated
25.00 ml onion — finely chopped
12.00 ml mustard — powder
10.00 ml salt
cayenne pepper — pinch

Method:

1. Preheat oven to 200 ºC. Grease a 20 x 15 cm bread pan and line the base with greaseproof paper.
2. Bring milk to the boil and pour over the maize meal. Add the butter and beat well. Allow to cool completely.
3. Add the beaten eggs to the cooled mixture, mixing well.
4. Add the remaining ingredients and mix.
5. Place dough in prepared pan and bake in preheated oven for 40 to 55 minutes until golden brown.
