Turmeric
Bright yellow to deep gold spice often used in curry. Turmeric has a more bitter taste than saffron. The powder is obtained from the dried root of a plant of the ginger family.

Use: It is used mainly in Indian and south-east Asian cooking. In Indian curries, biryanis and other rice dishes. A basic ingredient of curry powder; and often used in pickles, relishes, salads rice.
