Prickly pear
They are the fruits of the cactus. When ripe they're sweet and quite palatable. Minute hairs that can prick your fingers cover the egg- shaped fruit , which ripen from green to yellow to pink.

Use: Are used in fruit salads, desserts, as a preserve but are delicious on their own. The crunchy seeds are also edible and it can be cooked, sieved and puréed for sauces, ice- cream and cake fillings.
