Nectarine
A stone fruit from the peach family. It's skin is smooth, flushed with a touch of red. The flesh is firm and fragrant. They are juicy and sweet and best eaten when ripe. because the delicate flavour and texture are lost in cooking.

Use: Can be used in most recipes that require peaches. Lees ripe fruit can be gently poached in syrup, but nectarines are at their best sliced into fresh orange juice, or into white or red wine as a light finish to a summer meal. Often used in desserts, however, it's delicious when eaten on its own.
